Google refused to purchase Digg.com
According to network sources, the search giant Google at the end of last week refused to purchase the popular news resource Digg.com.
Digg.com is a online service where any Internet user can add articles. Subsequently, other visitors rate the publication, and news that have received the highest rating are shown on the homepage.
Last week the site TechCrunch circulated reports that Google and Digg.com had already reached agreement on several important issues and may soon announce their mearge. It was assumed that after the purchase of Digg.com its resources would be integrated into a news service called Google News. The amount of the deal was estimated at 200 million dollars.
Now, however, TechCrunch says
that the deal between Google and Digg.com failed. One source states that the refusal of Google to buy Digg.com was caused by technical problems that were found in the platform of this news resource. Another source calls the disagreemen between the leaders of the two companies as the cause of the breakdown of negotiations. Google's and Digg's representatives have not yet given any official comments.
