Google-gadget could make harm to users.
Known research company SecTheory, working on Internet security, has reported that the security of users when dealing with services and personalized Google homepage is under threat.
The reason for this is the company’s policy that supports not tested applications from third parties. Placing unknown gadgets on the home page, user might fall victims to hackers who may intercept their personal information.
When login at iGoogle.com, the user’s data is redirected by malicious gadgets creating the possibility of phishing.
In comments to Associated Press Google has reported that all gadgets are regularly scanned for the malicious code and placed on quarantine if discovered. Nevertheless, this comment did not satisfy the representatives of SecTheory, because there were a few examples of gadgets that remained on Google’s hosting despite the presence of malicious code.

Internet search has become the most popular on-line activity
According to the study of on-line users’ behavior, the daily use of search engines has increased from one third in 2002 to 49%, says Pew Internet & American Life Project.
These data show that the use of search engines may soon match the intensity of using e-mail. According to Pew Internet & American Life Project, about 60% of Internet users use e-mail daily.
These figures also show that Internet search is much more popular than reading the news (39% of users daily) or viewing weather reports (30% of users daily).
The leap of popularity of search engines is observed by researchers for the second time since 2002. The first jump was observed in late 2005, when the proportion of users using internet search daily rose from 30% in June 2004 to 40% in September 2005. This increase was considered as the increased attention to Google.
