AOL will close three services.
AOL announced the closure of three services for the storage of data online, including one of the oldest photo hosting resources, to reduce costs and focus on the company's advertising business .
By the end of this year the following sites will be closed: AOL Pictures, media-sharing site BlueString and on-line repository Xdrive. The latest resource is likely to be resold, states The Day
Official comments of the company denied that the closure of these services is preparation to sell the whole AOL. "The decision on the closure of services by 100% coincides with the strategy launched last year in which the company will focus on services and products that will contribute to its growth," said the company's press secretary Trish Primrose.
AOL Pictures was opened in 1998 under the name of You've Got Pictures and was the first of the sites to offered the option of storage and sharing digital images.
